Unbeknownst to us, due to a faulty sump pump we received an outrageous water bill totalling $300.00. We contacted our property management company, who came out immediately and could not detect a problem. We then contacted the water company, who came out within the week, and detected the faulty sump pump, notifying us that the leakage of the sump pump was indeed the cause of our high water bill. We contacted our rental company with this information immediately, yet it still took approximately five weeks for them to replace the faulty sump pump. During that time, we received another water bill totalling $220.00, which would have been more if not for the man from the water company shutting off all water to the sump pump. We contacted the water company, who agreed to adjust our bill in the amount of $175.00, and we have also paid $140.00 to the water company in order to keep our water from being shut off. There remains a $200.00 balance on our account because of this. What sort of reimbursement are we entitled to from our rental company? They have already indicated a lack of willingness to pay for any of these charges. Any advice would be appreciated.
