saying there someone else to get info

a dept collector called a family member of mine to get information about me and She said she needed information because i was applying for a loan. Then toward the end of the conversation she said this should help the application go though faster. Can they legally do this and if not how can I prove it

I'm not a lawyer but according to laws this is illegal. A debt collector is not allowed to falsify who they are and falsify why they are contacting you. According to the fair debt collection practices act that debt collector is wrong and u can complain about it, and the debt collector knows they cant do that, they just care about getting money and not getting facts or laws straight which is a damn shame.
