Husband was deeded farm property by grandmother over 5 year period of time (1/5 of 110 acre tract each yr x 5 yr in 1990's). Husband's father requested life time rights and paperwork signed in 90's. Another relative who was deeded adjoining tract of land requested survey early in this decade and property lines changed by approximately 1 acre. Husband's father told him that a new life time right needed to be signed because of new survey. Husband's father contacted "new" attorney and had paperwork drawn up, husband and his father go to attorney's office, attorney tells husband this is for life time rights for his father and husband signs (2006). Father recently tells my husband that he no longer owns this property, that he the father does. Of course, we were dumbfounded by this accusation. We go to register of deeds and they explain that the paper that my husband signed in 2006 signed over the land to his father and gave him (my husband) life time rights. My husband was diagnosed with dyslexia as a child and has a very difficult time reading much less understanding a legal form. He is in absolute shock that this has happened and he and I were told by his mother that this was done deliberate and under false pretenses for his father to gain this land. Father always thought that his mother should have given him the land, I feel that she didn't because her son already had large farm. Does my husband have a legal leg to stand on or is this just to be chalked up as a valuable learning experience?? Thank you for your time.

He might have a legal leg to stand on against his father for some type of fraud. He might have a claim against the lawyer who, apparently, told him something incorrect about what he was signing. I'm guessing your husband didn't have independent legal advice? Exactly what does the paper that your husband signed in 2006 say?
