Hello everyone. I was just looking for some help if possible. Recently I bought a World of Warcraft video game account online for $300. I paid via USPS money order (I know, mistake, I learned my lesson). I figured since I used the USPS It wouldn't be a problem. Anyways, Once I sent he money order out I never heard from the seller again. I emailed them asking for the account information but got nothing.

Besides contacting the company who makes the game and telling them someone sold an account, which they don't allow and will ban account, do I have any legal action I can take against this person? I have the persons home address, at least I think so. It's the address where I sent the money order. I have no phone number though.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I live in California but I sent the payment to the person in Tennessee.

I doubt that you'll ever get your money back.
But, you have one big thing going for you in this case.
You used the USPS.
So, you can contact the Postal Inspectors.
Those guys are pretty good, and they are like pitbulls.
If you get them interested, they just don't quit.
They can find out who did what and when.
Here are their contact details.

Phone the USPS Postal Inspectors Service at: 1-877-876-2455

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service likes to keep its customers satisfied, and a new call center helps them do that.

Customers and USPS employees nationwide now can dial one toll-free number, rather than looking up individual phone numbers, for the Postal Inspection Service's many locations.

Callers can reach the appropriate Postal Inspection Service office by dialing 1-877-876-2455 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in all time zones, and selecting from these options:

1. Mail service issues [callers are then directed to 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777)]
2. Emergency situations
3. Mail theft or identity theft issues
4. Mail fraud issues
5. Postal Inspection Service customer support

Option No. 2, Emergency situations, is automatically routed to a special operator for assistance if a call is made after business hours.

I suppose you have his name and address? Have you checked 411.com to see if he is listed?

Buying accounts is just as much against Blizzard's rules as selling. eBay had many reasons to ban sales of virtual goods. I'd be careful purchasing something that doesn't really exist from a person who cannot even prove he/she has it.

You've got a bit of a problem going to court, technically. This is because if you knew what you were buying was unlawful or unenforceable, the court will not allow you to use the court's time and money to give you "justice" for your illegal deal gone bad. In the real world, you may just wish to nail this person for their own fraud. You may want to contact Blizzard to let them know that someone sold you an account - which may get the account banned but I'm guessing that the account may not even exist or may not be owned by the seller. Second, the suggestion about the USPS is a great one - super info Army Judge!!!! Yes, they can be like pit bulls and they may help you nail the person who wrongfully took your money. Good luck.

Of course, what a great site and informative posts
Well...i think that it is a big good news for everyone. I like this blog and its contents are also very good and wrothtful.
