Basically, i am a self-employed draftsman and work from home. Last week a customer of mine went into administration. One of the jobs they were doing and was unfinished drawing wise, was taken on by one of the ex-staff members, who contacted me on thursday and asked if i would be prepared to finisht the drawings on the job, i was owed £1300 for the work done to that point and was unpaid, but we agreed for £1000 cash payment i would finish the job, this was payable the day after when he came to collect the drawings from me. The day after i had a colleague of mine across town plot these drawingsm and in my naivety (or me beig too trusting) i allowed this guy to collect the drawings first and the agreement was he was then to coe to me to go through the work and pay up the money, anyway, he collected the drawings and then disappeared and has not answered his phone since. I have found out which construction site he is currently working on and was going to confront him on monday to ask him where my money is, do i have any legal recourse if he refuses..?
I understand from contacts that he moves in dodgy circles and is not the kind of guy you threaten or anything, so i am only planning to ask for the money and say nothing more.
Do i have any chance of getting this..? Its annoying as i trusted him and took him at his word and he's just shafted me big time...
