My ex-husband and I have been divorced for several years. We got back together shortly after getting divorced but we never remarried. We purchased a house together and then sold it for a nice profit a few years ago. We then invested that money in a business that he owns solely. I am not a co-owner or shareholder. We are officially separating for good and I want to know if there is any chance that I could get some of the money back that was from our initial investment since my name is not the business.

I do not see how since you had no agreement for him to repay you. when you give someone money like this, you take a huge risk that the relationship may eventually end. You do not get any money back simply because now you are breaking up. You can certainly ask an attorney.

You can sue him for quantum meruit (value of goods and services) that you put into the business. Its not the smartest thing in the world to put money into a business without an agreement, but I would claim partial ownership in the business via lawsuit and then settle with him if he doesn't want to fight it out in court.
