Isn't it illegal under the 4th Amendment for UPS to open packages? The USPS isn't allow to.
However in UPS terms and conditions, they state they reserve the right to open packages freely. Just curious

The US Postal Service is a government run organization while UPS is private.

You don't have to ship with UPS. If you do, those are the terms that they set forth -- which I agree are rather liberal. At the same time, if there was a real problem with them opening packages then people wouldn't ship with them. The overly broad language is probably to ensure that when need arises they wouldn't have to go to lengths to prove they were justified. I can't imagine how many times people ship items they shouldn't be shipping and I'm sure that UPS' deep pockets are a target of many.
