I need some advice please.. On Tuesday I was shopping at Kroger's in Tennessee, I had 2 boxes of hair color, I don't know why, but I tore the bottom of the boxes off and ditched them, I totally chickened out and put the boxes on a shelf and went to leave the store.. The LP guy came up behind me, grabbed my arms and handcuffed me with my hands behind my back.. I told the guy I chickened out, it was a dare and I couldn't go through with it.. (I had the 16.00 to pay for the items).. I asked the LP guy to please loosen the hand cuffs, they cut my wrists pretty badly, I did get pictures once I got home..

To make a long story short, the guy called the police, they came, I was placed in the patrol car, taken to jail and booked, where I had to post $250.00 bail.. From what I understand, (I was a total mess at the time of the arrest, I've never been in any trouble before) The LP guy changed the charge from shoplifting to vandalism because I tore the boxes.. The only way I knew that is I over heard the officers saying that they couldn't believe he changed the charge, but they said it like they were disgusted with the guy, not me..

I have a court date on the 15th, I have no idea what I am supposed to do, what to expect, I have no attorney and am unemployed.. I am scared to death at the thought of going to Court and what might happen.. Can anyone give me some advice on how to proceed? Thank you..

I Just returned from Court, apparently the LP person had me charged with theft and vandalism, the sentence for that according to the Judge is 11/29 and a $2500.00 fine...I never took anything, I did tear the box however.. I have the form for indigent counsel, i'm supposed to fill it out and bring it to court on 2/5 to see if I qualify for an appointed attorney.. What do you think i'm looking at? I've never been in any trouble and had a pristine record prior to this incident... thanx for all your help...
