Following up my previous question, "Detained Shoplifting in Seattle in March. No mention of a summons, but still nervous"
I am crossing the border into Canada to stay in Vancouver over the weekend, and am concerned if there will be any issue crossing the border and back again. As I mentioned in the previous question, I was detained for shoplifting in March 2012, first offense, and payed off a civil demand letter that I was told would be mailed to me.
No police were present, and there was no mention of court or a charge. I have received nothing from the Seattle Municipal Court or King County District Court so far, and I continue to check the court websites to see if anything has been filed against me.
My thought is that I should be okay because I have not yet been given a court date and have not been convicted of anything.
But any thoughts or advise on the matter would be greatly appreciated.
