I shoplifted a $56 dollar bottle of cologne yesterday at a Store name.
I was not caught by their LPO though I was wondering if they can track me down somehow and send the cops after me. I heard that LPOs catch shoplifters right away and detain you but I was not and I stayed in the store for about 5 mins after i shoplifted and purchased something with my credit card. I am afraid that they will use my credit card information to track me down and send the cops after me is this possible? I know what i did was wrong and i feel really bad for shoplifting but im too scared to return the item in the fear of them arresting me and charging me. I have not slept at all since i commited the crime. Im not sure if their cameras got me on tape or not. Can anyone please give me information on this?

If the store has evidence of theft they can most certainly use whatever info they have to ID you. LP not stopping you does not mean your out of the woods.

If your IDed and they file a Police report you can expect contact from Police

Will i be arrested? Also i feel really bad for shoplifting. I have never been in trouble with the law i don't know what possessed me to shoplift. Should i go return the item.

If a Police report is filed and your IDed you can expect contact by Police. Now whether your arrested and hauled off to Police headquarters or just given notice to appear I cannot say. If you return to store they can choose to accept item or payment or arrest you.

If you feel so bad, take the item with you when you go back to this store. When you go into the fitting room, put it with the other merchandise in the fitting room and be done with it. Or you can send cash anonymously to the store and said you feel sorry for stealing the item and would like to make payment. Include enough cash to cover the tax.

I would make it right with yourself first and worry about the other stuff later.
