I'm, 20 years old male and I made a horrible mistake a couple days ago and decided to shoplift from a store. The total cost was $130 plus recovered items. They took me to their security office, took my information down, took a picture and signed a paper saying I can't trespass within their property for a year. Cops then took me down to the station, took a mug shot, fingerprints and I had to get my parents bail me out. I'm appearing on court next month but I have no idea what to expect. This is my first time getting arrested, I have a clean record. I cannot a afford to speak with an attorney and have a consultation.
Am I able to talk to one when I appear for court?
How many times will I have to go to court? I am missing school because of this and it's out of state.
What will my consequences be?
Will the judge let me go back to college even if it is out of state?
About how much should I expect to pay for fines?

Plead not guilty, ask the court to appoint a lawyer to represent you, make no statements, and wait.

If you stay out of additional trouble, listen to your lawyer, this will eventually go away.

It won't be quick, but time will mend this, plus a few hours of community service and a little more money from the parents money tree!!!!

If you consult a local Attorney yes you can which would be wise

I would guess at least two

What will my consequences be?
Depends this is why you need to talk to an Attorney

Will the judge let me go back to college even if it is out of state?
I dont see why not

About how much should I expect to pay for fines?
Court fines less than $500.00 and civil fines around $500.00 to $1000.00
