ok Here goes.. I take certain medications which make me act rather irresponsible. additionally compulsion, amnesia, and impulse actions are side effects. That being said, While under these meds. I had shoplifted. Now allow me to say I have far more than learned my lesson. will never take these meds. and venture out again. My question is , that I didn't get caught, what to do?. I wish to simply return the items, but then I am certain to seal my fate. should I just hope for the best?. am I likely to have a tape reviewed if they find the item's box?, and then try to find my identity?. The fear is overwhelming. I have NO record, nor have I ever done this before. Help?. advice? thank you

Unless they know exactly when and where to look its not likely they will review tape. Your looking at them sitting down and watching hours and hours of video. Its unlikely any store is going have someone sift through this in hopes they see something. Even if they did see something they would have to have unbroken footage of your entry, selection, concealment and exit from store. Again unlikley. Last if they had all that (better chance of winning the lottery) they need a means to ID you. so you are probably safe. However it could be that an employee saw you and could ID you upon rentry to store. If you want to return items do so via US mail with no return address. This will ease your mind and protect you. I would for safety sake stay out of that store for next couple months to play it safe

And if you DO get caught, don't try the "medicated" excuse. Judges have heard it 1000 times, it never works.

People win the lotto too, doesn't mean the odds are in your favor :)

Actually, and factually, for that matter, the medication is not an excuse, rather than a true to life reason. But then again..I wouldn't expect any more of a response from a store security employee.

Don't expect it from a Judge or a DA either.

If your life is that screwed up where medication "makes you steal" maybe you should just stay home and order your stuff off the internet.
