I made the bad mistake of trying to shoplift. I was caught with 2 items totaling under 5 dollars. It is my first offense and I was very cooperative with the security. I have a few questions on what will come of this. Here is my story. After I was caught, 5 months ago, the manager of LP had me sign a form admitting what I did. After this he made me sign a 1 year ban from the store. He did not call the police. No civil demand was said. All he said was that I was banned for a year. OK, how can I know what database stores use. Hypothetically, If I was caught at Kroger and this happened to me, and I apply for jobs elsewhere such as Sears or another retail giant and I was basically given the job pending background checks, How can I find out if they use the same database or even if im in it in the first place. Also, in your opinion, no smart ass comments please, do you think they would still send a civil demand for the low price of 5 dollars 5 months after it all happened? I would really, really appreciate all the help I can get. Mostly, Im interested in knowing all i can about the database procedure and information involved in it.

Sadly the stores that use these databases are a closley guarded secret. I personally have made attempts to find out to no avail.

I guess I have the .01% luck. I just got the job at the company. So with that I am guessing the civil demand is not going to show on my door anytime soon, hopefully. I am so relieved.
