I have a 15 year old in PA who was caught shoplifting. She has pleaded not guilty to try to have the charges lowered by community service, if possible. We have never needed any legal advice before and do not know what to expect when the court date comes around. Should we be seeking legal advice? Do we need to get a lawyer or can we handle ourselves? Can anyone tell me what exactly will happen when she goes to court? Will it just be the judge, someone from the store and police officer? She is a straight A student and is very athletic. Worries about not being eligible for possible college scholarships and employment are things that a parent worries about if this stays on her record until she is 18. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There are huge risks in taking this avenue. Consult a local Attorney before even considering this road. there are risks in this means and gambles as well. There are safer and still free or near free methods to get this done
