So my friend and i got caught shoplifting. she had 40$ worth of stuff in her bag and I had 110$ worth of stuff! We were put in a room and we gave them all their stuff. They asked for IDs and we gave them are school IDs! They told us to call are parents and we did then the cops came took down are personal info like address weight, height, etc but We never signed anything. When are parents came they signed a release forum. Then they said we should expect a court date in the mall and that I might have to pay a $1000 dollars for what I stole. Will this be on my record? It was my first offense. Am I getting charged?? Please help.

You should immediately stop talking about this with anyone but mom, dad, and your lawyer. Whatever you do, don't admit anything, and don't plead guilty. If your parents can't afford a lawyer, ask them to ask the court to appoint one for you. If you are smart, this can be wiped away, keeping your record clean. You don't want the label of THIEF on your record. So, chill, talk with your parents, stay out of trouble, and get a lawyer.

A lot of times a first juvenile offense, especially something petty like this, can be wiped away if you just manage to stay out of trouble for 6-12 months.
This is your parents problem now. There is nothing for you to do.
Pay attention in school and learn about homophones. **childish snicker
