I was falsely accused of stealing $3 in lip balm from Sears. I had put the lip balm in my cart along with the other items I was purchasing. My order totaled more than a $100, but as I emptied my cart, I didn't see the lip balm. It was until I walked out of the store, that a LP approached me, and accused me of stealing. I told her it was an oversight on my part. And really if I was stealing lip balm I would have put it in my purse, not the cart! Also, it was only 3.00---especially since I had just spent $150. I have never been in this situation before, and it was frustrating, because you know deep down inside it was an honest mistake, and you're treated as a criminal! They asked for my personal information, and I refused to give them my social security number or sign the paperwork they typed up. They said it would just be a ticket , and that I was banned from the store for a year!!! Ridiculous I thought. My question is, can they ban me for something so trivial? And I am a sears card holder, will they cancel my credit card?
