My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas
These past few weeks have been terrible for me, this entire incident has kept me depressed for quite a while. I have no idea what is going on in my situation and i really need to know what lies ahead for me in the future.
Story:
I am a minor (16) who was caught shoplifting in a MAJOR CHAIN store. The total amount stolen was under $50 so it is considered a Class C misdemeanor, and i was not arrested. While i was at Walmart, they told me that i can no longer go to any of the Major Chain's stores for the rest of my life, yet they never took a picture of me or took my fignerprints. I have to appear in court. A few days later, i received a letter from Walmart saying that i have to pay a fine ($150). So far my parents have not yet recieved anything pertaining to me being banned from Walmart, although i have already told them.
I know what i did was wrong and it was a stupid decision on my part. I will become a law abiding citizen and will never attempt anything like this ever again. I am a student with good grades who wants to go to college. I have several questions that remain unanswered that I hope someone will answer.
Questions:
Do i explain my story in court? I don't understand how court works at all.
Do colleges in Texas look at juvenile records?
On a college application do they ask me about my criminal record?
How can i join a diversion program?
What is the quickest way i can have this entire thing sealed/expunged?
Am I still banned from any of this Major Chain's stores, even though no paperwork or contact has been given to my parents?
If an educational institution looks up my background, will they be able to find the full details on me or will they just see "Misdemeanor Class C"?
