My 18 year old daughter and her 17 year old friend were caught shoplifting in Georgia tonight. I understand that each of them had about $200 worth of clothes in their purses. I talked to the officer on the phone and he told me that since it was the first time he was going to issue her a citation. They were given a court date and barred from the store for five years.
What is likely to happen to her? Will she get some sort of permenant record? Do I need to get her a lawyer? I guess I thought I did a better job than I did raising her but I certainly don't want something like this to mess up her life.
Can she plead nolo or something like that? I am guessing she will have to pay something on the order of a $250 fine. Thank you.
