Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft shoplifting in illinois

my mom and i got cought with a calender that i found in a mall food court, and i love books, so i went to the bookstore after lunch and after looked around a little bit more, then the gaurd came and asked for the calender that we stole from the book store and we got arested, we told him that we founded in the food court, they have no proof that we stole it, this was 3 month ago and no charges were filed, no on march 30th, they file charges, i am wondering what advice can i receave and should i hire a lawyer for me and my mom???

Yes get a Lawyer and force them to produce evidence you stole item.

thank you for the advice, but i still wonder, what if i can not afford a lawyer???

If you cannot afford a Lawyer request a Public Defender
