I live in Pa and was caught shop lifting at a local (dept. store). They followed me to my car and after I pulled out two men stood in front of my car and a women tapped my window asking me for the merchandise.
I showed her the bag of items I did purchase.
She asked for the jewelry and whatever I had in the two small boxes. I gave her the boxes and two of the jewelry items and she asked for the third.
She told me I had to follow her back into the store and her two guards came followed behind me. She took me to her office and I told her that I am under stress and that I shoplift when I am under stress.
I told her that I have a therapist and told her I am not on any medication than Pristiqu because me insurance will not cover medications that my doctors prescribes. She asked for my drivers license and took it to a back room. One of her goons stayed with me. She came back and said that it was up to me if I wanted to handle charges through the store with a civil demand or through the magistrate and that if I choose magistrate I would be found guilty and she would have to call the police.
Or I can do a civil demand where I get a letter, pay the damages and it doesn't go on my record. She asked me why I stole the items and seemed understanding enough. I told her that I came into the store only to get my mother fudge but got sidetracked looking in the auditorium.
i seen a few items that I would have like to purchase but had to put them back because I didn't have the money. My daughter and I took the escalator downstairs and started walking to the exit when clarisonic brushes caught my eye. So I picked up two of them. My daughter wondered off and I remember her saying she liked some bracelets so I picked up the ones she liked. We walked around a little, I put the items in my bag and we left. That's when I got busted. I have been diagnosed with agoraphobia, paranoia and stress induced shoplifting. She said call the number on the letter when I get it and tell them. They escorted me out of the store and that was that. She read me a letter but I never signed anything. I was just wondering what I should do?
