no i dont. i only spoke to this one attorney. she said i dont need a lawyer. just plead no contest on the day of my first court date and ask for deferred disposition/probation. she then told me to explain to the judge that what i did was an awful mistake. i dont know if should belive her or not as its not what i have read in the previous entries below this thread.

the usual - plead not guilty, ask for attorney/PD

hes asking for $250 to represent me. and i still dont get how hes gona represent me if im the one pleading no contest.

i might seek another attorney.

im also thinking of enrolling in an anti shoplifting class i can take at home. anyone can tell me where i can find one that courts accept. and if i do pass that course. how will the judge know i took that course before my first court appearance? in other words how do i prove to the judge that i have actually done something about my actions and that i really want to change?

This Lawyer told you most likely because you told him you could not afford a Lawyer! In my view you should plead not guilty and ask for Public Defender. Then talk to Public Defender about Diversion as option. Yes taking an Anti Shoplifting course before court should work in your favor. Send me a PM I will give you the email to the Director of such a program. When you complete course they give you a certificate
