I was wondering if it would be to late to let the authorities know that i was threatened into shoplifting. However we were caught before we left the store, and instead charged with Unlawful Concealment of Goods Under $50.

The items that i had on me were an adapter to a paintball barrel (The guy i was with had the rest of it.) And a protein drink, (About 3 Bucks.) I'm not one to steal from anyone and wasn't raised to do so. I've never been in trouble with the police before and haven't been since this time.

I was at the time living with the guy and his mother (i was 18, he was 17) and had no other place to go if i were to be kicked out. So ideally i helped him. We were both arrested and sent through the jail, then released with a promise to appear.

The first court date we were given the chance to take a class that would cost $250. He took it and it was dismissed on his half. I however didn't have the money and went to the next court date to say so. They instead gave me a second change to do it. Yet again i couldn't come up with the money because of school and the lack of a job. The third time i was assigned a lawyer, whom had it continued yet again so that i could take another class. This class required i either have a job, which i don't, or be in school, which i'm not anymore. (Forced to drop out).

Now I'm a pretty big guy, 6'1 and about 180 pounds so i don't that they would believe that someone about 5'11, 160lbs could threaten a guy like me. That being said, i have now taken residency with family and have a job that i would be hired to immediately if it weren't for this pending charge that sadly showed up on my record.

Now that i am not living with this guy, I'm comfortable letting them know that i was 'bullied' into helping him shoplift.

Is it to late?

I personally would advise against that defense. Your "best" option is one offered. If you cant pay the monies then seek a payment arrangement. Any other option will be even more costly and likely result in a criminal record. Proving you were forced will be near impossible and likely end up in very stiff sentence from Judge

I once arrested a kid who wore out a pair of shoes told me the night before a man had kicked in his door, put a gun to his head and told him "You go to Store X tomorrow, and you steal me a new pair of shoes, if you don't I'm going to come back here and kill you and your whole family"

So this kid wanted me to believe a man commited numerous felony crimes to get him to commit a misdemeanor, I asked if the guy had picked him due to his shoe size since the kid wore them out and he told me "yep" :D

Sound insane? so does your story. Don't bother bringing it up, the judge will laugh you out of the court.

Don't try to figure this out on your own it will end in disaster. Ask the right questions here and talk to an Attorney
