I am an 18 y/o freshman college student and have made several bad choices over the last few months.
I'm currently on probation for 9 months for a marijuana use charge; I plead guilty to the charge and took the diversion program.
Before I went to court and was placed on probation, I was given another citation for marijuana use. I have not yet went to court for this charge, however I did not have any marijuana on me and the officer did not do any drug testing. He said I looked like I had been smoking pot and gave my friend and I citations for use.
Also, before I was put on probation, I had the dumb idea to try to steal liquor from a grocery store. A store employee grabbed me as I was leaving but I pulled away from him and left. He was able to get my friend's license plate, the police contacted him and he eventually gave them my name.
The police dept. called me while I was away from campus over winter break to ask me about the incident.
I declined to speak to them at that time and they said they would be contacting me again when spring semester starts.
Im starting classes again this week and I have a job working on campus. I really want to get my act together so I can stay in school and not go to jail.
I dont have money to hire a lawyer.
Am looking for some advice as to what I might be expecting regarding the shoplifting incident.
Thank you in advance for any advice.
