Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft Shoplifting. NO police. NO Report. Should I call?

Hello! I just have a few questions.

I got caught shoplifting even though it was my first time and first offense (stupid mistake I am aware) for around 300-400 of like 3 items of clothes. I cooperated, they took everything back. I Never signed a paper and they never took a picture of me. They said I would receive a civil demand and to pay it immediately or I will be sued.

My question is if it is appropriate for me to call and ask if there was a police report/if they plan on filing one to see if I should "*lawyer up*.

I LP mentioned I was lucky she was being nice that day and that if I pay the demand that's the end of it and just to learn from my mistake. I am aware that it is possible they could still file etc. etc.

I just would like to know if it is okay if I call the store to ask if any further action was taken and if it will result in a criminal record even though she said I would not?

- Thank you for your time

I am a Retail theft consultant and answer questions like yours daily. NO DO NOT call store! Considering the dollar value they should have called Police so dont make waves. Pay the civil Demand (will excedd cost of items) and this should be over

No, definitely don't call. If you pay the civil demand, that "most likely" will be the end of it. If they do file criminal charges against you, then get a lawyer.
