I live in California, I'm 17 about to turn 18 in 2 months. This is my 1st offence, my record is clean. I was caught shoplifting from a Wal-Mart. I took around 60 dollers worth of stuff and put it in my purse. They caught me as I was leaving (secret shoppers) took me to a back room told me I was banned from all Wal-Mart stores till I turn 21 years of age. They called the police. They also asked a bunch of questions which, now after researching a bit, makes me think they want to charge me with a Burglary Felony and Vandilizm charges. The reason I think this is because thay asked where were all the normal items I keep in my purse (wallet, etc.) as the purse I had on me was fairly empty except for sunglasses, money and a bottle of advil. The reason for this being I had just emptied my purse that held my clothes because I was out of town before I left the house to go to walmart. And for the Vandilizm, because I ripped off the barcodes or whatever they are, thinking (like my ex-friends said) the raidars wont go off if I do this.
The police said I have a court date and relesed me to my parents.
But here are my questions:
-Will I be charged as an Adult or a Juvinile? As I am turning 18 soon.
-Will the record be cleared when I turn 18?
-Will it be a misdemenor or a felony charge?
I am guilty and I will admit to it and be responsiple for my actions. I feel like I should have been a stronger person and not gave in to peer presure. Please if you know anything about this, HELP!
