Hi
I was caught shoplifting at a local store in Mass and was NOT arrested, it was filled as a criminal complaint, and i also got a court date. Then yesterday the Attorneys who are representing the store, sent a letter saying that i have to pay an X amount of dollars. Does this mean that if i pay X amount that i would have settled this matter out of court and do i still have to appear in front of the Magistrate/Judge. Also i can't afford a lawyer can i ask one be appointed for me. Also this is my first offense.

Any help is appreciated

Well after doing some research i have to pay the civil Claim. Does anyone know if i can get Diversion in Mass and if i can ask simply to pay a fine and be done with it..

I need help please

i haven't had a chance to post here sense i was busy with life, but here is what happened at court i had a hearing with the Magistrate and got the Criminal Compliant dismissed, and i paid the Civil Claim, i also had to sign a paper that i was banned from said store and their affiliate store. Considering what i did i got off well...The only question i have is will the criminal complaint always stay on record of sense it was dismissed is it even on my record
