Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft shoplifting (retail)

my friend and i (both 16), were caught shoplifting about $150 total at a retail store. we were caught, cooperated...filled forms, called parents, listened to LP and PD, yadda yadda yadda.

i was wondering what will most likely happen to us, how much the fine will be estimated to, what will happen to the merchandise we stole, and if BOTH parents have to attend the court hearing (my parents are divorced).

i'm not worried about jail b/c it was our first offense, and california has other crimes to tend to. i am deeply ashamed of my actions and acknowledge my stupidity; i apologize to any of those who are offended by what i have done. thanks for any responses.

The chances of jail are also zero unless you have priors. Yes your parents must be in court with you. You will have a court fine and a civil fine. Your court fine will likely be less than $500.00 your civil fine around $500.00 or so. there may be other cost like for classes etc. Talk to your Attorney about ACD or Diversion to protect your record
