Remember back three terms ago?
As long as you do as you are told, same result this time, except they'll want more money.

You or your parents are looking a criminal fines of around $500.00 maybe more because of prior offense. Community service and a year of probation. the Judge will not look kindly upon you because you were given a gift of diversion in past yet you have broke the law once again. You might be told to take a theft class as well that too has a cost. If you want help your case I suggest you enroll and complete a theft class before court to show Judge. I know of one case where this was done and Judge dismissed case on the spot. The NASP has a course you can take online that should suffice here is their website www.shopliftingprevention.org if you have questions about this contact me and I will give you the email address to their Director a friend of mine

Hard to say. It probably depends on how much you to blabbed once you got caught. He could potentially avoid any consequence at all, but could also face the same outcome as you or anything in between.

They dident make us talk at all they just asked are address phone numbers stuff like that took pictures of us and gave us a court date

He will likely face typical consequences fines less than $500.00 community service, probation etc etc. He will likely meet criteria for Diversion if he has no prior offenses

If one of you committed the crime, and the other had no knowledge of the crime, or did not aid the actual wrongdoer, that person might not be charged. If that is the case for one of you, the innocent one should speak with an attorney.

If you believe that the surveillence camera recorded this petty theft, then you are subject to the punishments of the court. Did you have money on your person at the time? Did you purchase anything at this department store?

I think my best option is to plead not guilty and get a public defender to make a deal with the prosecutor in order to avoid a theft conviction

I would think that an even better option would be to stop stealing. But that's just me.
