Me and my friend were caught shoplifting at JCpennys. It was a first offense for both of us. We were completely honest about and planned on receiving every punishment we had in store. We both received a fine from JCpennys and were told we would receive a letter and would have to attend court from the police but neither of us ever got a letter. What does this mean?

This sounds like it could have been a Civil Demand letter. The fine is a demand for payment from JC Penny, not from the state. It is not a criminal fine. You should read the article I've referenced and read the letter again. We have some people here who have an expertise in shoplifting matters.

First off it was unwise to name store. Second that store chain has a 100% prosecution policy so your court date is coming

If the user can be IDed it can be used as confession or the like. I have seen users on messages arrested, charged, fired, written up etc for posts on boards. It safer to ask your questions but leave store names, real names, exact items taken, day, city to name a few

We don't know that the alleged incident occurred at
X-Mart, any more than we know a person claiming to be Joe Doe posted as Joe Doe. Heck, we don't know if Joe Doe is simply pulling our leg.

I have dealt with these issues on both sides aiding the retailer or aiding the the citizen its a real threat!

Were the police called? Please clarify, "we received a fine and were told we would receive a letter and have to attend court from the police"

This sounds like the police were called. If so, the courts may have resolved it without you. Many store LP do not attend court so the DA doesn't even follow through with charges on low dollar thefts (or non felony).

Jcpenney is not 100% prosecution anymore shrink master.
