I was caught shoplifting a small amount of goods (about $20) at Wal-Mart. The LP approached me at the door as I was leaving and I got scared and ran. I came back hours later and picked up my car in different clothes. Two days later, the police were knocking on my door, but I didn't answer the door and they left relatively quickly after I didn't answer. I became very worried and I hired an attorney. It has now been four days and I haven't heard anything. My attorney checked and there is no warrant for my arrest. Here is what I was wondering:

1) Is it possible/likely that the LP will review past CCTV footage looking for other shoplifting incidents by me as well as the current one?
2) If there were other incidents of theft that I was not caught for (around $20-$30) and they did find it on tapes, can they charge me with that as well? If so, would several of these "small" incidents (maybe totaling $125-$150 all together) increase what I would be charged with? I know that a first offense of shoplifting is a summary offense, but if they can show that person additionally shoplifted several others as well without previously being caught, would that increase it from a summary offense to a misdemeanor, or just multiple summary offenses?
3) If this does result in multiple summary offenses instead of a misdemeanor....is jail time a likelihood? I'm really concerned about jail time, and I'm hoping this is not going to result in jail time.

Your questions indicate, what the law calls, consciousness of guilt.

Stop worrying what will happen, and get busy fixing yourself.

I suggest you discuss this ONLY with YOUR attorney, and cease IMMEDIATELY any destructive behaviors.

You need to STOP worrying about WHAT might happen, aka "chicken little style", and focus on BEHAVING yourself.

If you don't BREAK their laws, you have no need to FEAR what they might do to you.

Don't destroy yourself, behave yourself.

Trust me, its easy, because even a dummy like me does it.

I am a Retail theft consultant and answer questions like yours daily here is my take.
