I got caught shoplifting a month ago for amount of $16 in a Supermarket in NJ. They gave me the civil demand in the store and I have sent the check of $150 to their corp. office in NY 3 days later. My check was cashed by them on Jan 6. I was told by the LP officer at store that after I paid the civil demand within few weeks I will a letter (receipt of payment) and then this whole thing is over, but it has been 3 weeks since I paid still I have not receive any letter from them. Should I call them to make sure my payment is promptly applied to my account? But I really don't want to call them if I don't have to. Please advice!!

Thank you. But will I be creating myself problems by calling them and ask for receipt? (Such as remind them of my case and then file a police report on me. They did not call the police at the time of the incident) I just want this chapter of my life be over.
