My question involves collection proceedings in the State of:
PA/cambria county

I recently got summons for a debt of $1200. Called collection company and set up payment plan of 125 a month. They are sending paper work. When I asked if I should show up in court now they said not to and that they would get automatic judgement and everything would be fine as long as I pay.

My wife said to file papers that show payment plan with court and to show up at hearing (8/21). That the judge might not file judgment then. Thanks for any help.

Show up and make sure the judge knows of your arrangement. If they get the default judgment, they have the ability to garnish your wages and you could end up paying more than the agreed upon amount.

I thought PA doesnt allow wage garnishments. When I get the payment schedule in the mail should I make a payment before the hearing or wait? I read that the judge might not be to happy that a payment schedule was agreed on and that they continued with the suit. Thanks for any help.
