small claims case or not?

I have a problem. I was in contact with a spiritual advisor from CA, I live in PA. I paid a sum of 1200 for services and items and I recieved some items however the services were never completed. Put it this way, what they promised me they didn't deliver. Now they are saying that they are taking me to small claims court to recover another 3500 that they say i owe them. There is no written contract or signature. Only phone converstations were had. I feel as though I was taken for 1200 on a scam however they are still claiming their case. They are providing receipts for items they claim purchased and used in their service however I have no proof of any of this. Do you think they have a case against me and where and how would they have to file this? thank you for your help!!!

Treat it as an empty threat unless and until you are served papers.
