My husband recently bought a 2002 Subaru Forrestor in February. After a few months of driving it we both decided we wanted a bigger car. So my husband decided to post the subaru on craigslist and listed $4800. We had an someone interested who came to look at the car. He checked the car out and test drove it. He noticed that the head gasket was leaking and that he was still interested in the car but he wanted to check to see how much it would cost to replace the head gasket. He called my husband saying the cheapest he could find repair work would be $1200. The man said he would only buy it for $3600 because of the repair. My husband works on cars(not a mechanic but has worked with cars since he was a teenager) and told the man that he would fix the gasket at his fathers garage. H He fixed the gasket and text the man and told him the gasket was fixed and would sell it to him for $5000 for the price of the repair and part. The man said he was still interested and said his daughter would come and look at. My husband drove the car from maryland( where his fathers garage is located) back to virginia. On the way from Maryland to Virginia the car stopped working. My husband had it towed to the Subaru dealership to have a diagnostic completed. The car started without issues and a diagnostic was completed and they found nothing wrong with the car. My husband drove it an 1hr 30 minutes back to virginia. The mans daughter came the next day and my husband showed her the diagnostic receipt. She test drove the car with her sister. She liked the car and paid the $5000. One week later the father (the man that had initially checked the car out) text my husband and said that they were on the side of the road with the Subaru that had a head gasket blown and that things needed to be sorted out. My husband kept the receipt for the head gasket and the receipt for the diagnostic. Does this man have case against us?
