Sold my car, buyer blowing me off

I sold my Bronco. Wrote out a contract. And let them make payments. I let the person make payments cuz of a mutual friend who said they wouldn't screw me. I sold it for $800. I still have the title. They gave me $350 up front and are supposed give me two more payments of $225. We have a notarized contract stating this and the deadline. They have until the sixth to pay me, and this weekend they said they were out of town...then later said one of them had gone to jail. I have a feeling I'm getting the runaround. If i don't get my money by the time stated in the contract, do i have legal right to go get it? I have a spare key...

Sorry, you don't have a repo right unless it's in your contract.

And if you didn't have an acceleration clause you can only sue for the missed payment (if they miss it).

If you know where they live you might go there on the 7th and see if they'll allow you to cancel the deal and take the car back. Just make sure you have the $350 to give back to them.

If one of them is in jail, the other might need the money more than the car.

Lesson for the future: NEVER sell a car on payments, no matter what. Cash in full ONLY. And AS IS written in the bill of sale.
