First of all, i live in WA and dont go to OR that often and i dont have insurance because its not req. and i dont have the $$ i ride a 2005 suzuki SV650 (motorcycle)
i was riding along going to a friends house in OR from WA going a bit over the speed(maybe 10-15 over). my exit was coming up in less the a mile so i was trying to find a spot to get over. (3 lanes) i was in the far left lane and need to be in the right to get off my exit in less then a mile. i look over and theres 2 semi trucks and a SLOW moving car in the fast lane(in front of me... i slow down to the speed limit by then), i know i wasnt going to be ahead of the semis by the time my exit came up and didnt want to slow down to under the speed on the freeway to get behind the trucks as breaking on a motorcycle on the freeway is a bit nerve racking(im still new). so i go in between the 2 semi-trucks (maybe 20ft between the 2) and go all the way to the right lane KNOWING theres nobody over there. i get over there and see i have more space then i thought till my exit, i move back over into the middle lane (after getting ahead of the semi...also going speed limit still) and pass another car and get back over to the right lane. by then my exit in less the 200ft away. so i signal and start going over to the exit... and i hear a LEO chip his horn (siren?) i pull over and remove my gloves and helmet. he tells me to put my hands behind my back and immediately hand cuffs me. he pats me down and ask for an ID (no reg. or insurance) i tell him its in my pocket.. he reaches in and gets it, tells me to sit on curb and wait. he goes back to his car and comes back a little later and ask who the bike is reg. to, i say either me or my father (because im not 18 so it might be my father) and ask if i have insurance. i tell him no because it doesnt req. it in WA. he goes back to his car, and also ask "if i ride like that like always" (i have no clue what he means because i wasnt doing anything that wasnt possible being in a car or on a moto... i tell him no. he comes back again.. he tells me that im going to have my bike impounded for no insurance (which i kinda figured why) and wrote me up a citation for (speed racing, careless driving and drive uninsured) gives me ticket and sends me walking...
i guess what i want to know is what do i do? should i just take it and go on my way?... not to try to sound like i did a bad thing and got away with it but i KNOW he didnt see me doing anything but maybe going between the 2 semi all the way to the right lane.
should i subpoena it and ask what his notes are and etc.? what should i do
i am a member of Pre-Paid Legal and am going to give them a call tommorow to see what they think about the whole thing.. or should i go to court and fight it with a lawyer
