I was recently issued a citation for speeding in North Carolina (60 in a 45). I have just moved to NC from Tennessee and have not changed my license yet. My question is, with an out of state license, will points show up on my NC license when I get it, and will my insurance reflect a higher rate? Is it advantageous to hold off getting my NC license until this is settled? I plan to meet with the DA before my court date to see if I can get the charge reduced, but am just wondering what happens if I just pay the fine while I still have my TN license.
