I was recently arrested for a bench warrant from 2008. I was unaware of the bench warrant from an unpaid speeding ticket. How should i plead/respond at my court date?

You have two issues.

One will be the original citation that apparently was never properly addressed.

The other is the FTA. That's a bench warrant.

Some people plead NOT guilty, and try to get the citation dismissed.
In your case, it was allegedly issued six years ago.
You have a right to confront and cross examine the issuing officer.
In many cases, police officers accept jobs in other agencies, start new careers, or retire.
So, contesting a sic year old citation isn't a bad idea.

The FTA is another matter.
You either appeared or failed to appear.
If the warrant was issued, the court has proof to establish you did FTA.

Nevertheless, I'd plead NOT guilty and try to fight them both.
At this point, you have little to lose.

To be safe, you might want to speak with and eventually hire a lawyer.

In all likelihood, your insurance rates could go up if you are convicted of one or both charges.
You could also end up getting your license pulled by your state's DMV (drivers licensing agency), if convicted.
In many cases, that may have already happened.
That will also cause your insurance rates to skyrocket.
