I recently received a speeding ticket for 77 in a 55 mph zone while driving through NC. I don't live in NC and based on the citation, i have to come to court. Is there any way to have this reduced such that i do not have to come back to NC for the court date? It would be a real pain to have to drive/fly back down to that area!!!! Any idea how this would affect my insurance or driver's license since i live in PA?

I've heard about PJC in NC but i've heard varying things about this only applying to NC residents and such. I don't have any other prior traffic convictions. The last ticket i got (within past year period) was in PA for 5 miles over the speed limit and that didn't affect my insurance. Can i use the PJC, how long does a PJC last and what are it's implications? Just trying to figure out my options, help, please!

PA does not post out of state traffic tickets to your record. NC might suspend your right to drive in NC since this is over 15mph but I am not sure they will even do that. The NC DMV can answer that question. If you find out, I would like to know also. Call the court and see if you can just pay the ticket. If not, a local NC attorney will probably handle it for around 100.

Thanks for the info lwpat. Would i still have to show up to court? I told the officer i'm from out of town and he said it was MANDATORY? Would talking to the ADA be of any help? I've talked to my insurance company in PA and they said they would post out of state traffic violations, though it may not be as severe in PA as it would in NC (seems NC is a bit more harsher with trafffic laws).

I'm still not sure what my options are... i guess talking to the court/magistrate of that county or the ADA would be my first step? Again, thanks for any advice/info anybody has to offer!!!

I thionk your insurance company is mistaken. If PA does not post the ticket, the insurance company has no way of knowing about it unless you send them a copy. Call the DMV to see if they have changed. I would call the ADA and talk to him first. An attorney can handle it for you without you having to show for court. If you need a recommendation send me a private email.
