1. What is the minimum amount of time to be married before a spouse is required to pay spousal support and split pre-marital assets if there is no pre-nup.

2. Can a spouse contest beneficiaries on a life insurance policy and bank accounts in the event of a divorce?

Alimony is state specifci and it depends on each parties income and how long they were married. In short term marriages alimony is hard to get.

As far as the life insurance beneficiary, there is no way a court is going to make one person name their ex spouse as beneficiary, unless there are minor children involved.
