Statue of Limitations of Credit

After 7 years of not paying your debt, what happens? Does your credit report start "clean" as if you never had anything?
It's been 6 years for me and I am thinking about repaying but am not sure if that's the best option...Help!

You should try sending the collection department a validation of your credit. Look under your search for validation sample letters. Try this site http://www.creditinfocenter.com/forms/sampleletter9.shtml
