Statute of Limitation

I'm not sure if this belongs in this section of the Insurance section, but here goes:

On 12/17 my girlfriend and I were in a fender-bender on the side of the highway. At first we had noticed that the rear bumper wasn't dented in at all and that all that was damaged was paint; on our front out the license plate was bent. We exchanged insurance information with the other person but nothing else had gone on and we went our separate ways.

Now, on 3/5 the other party has taken up a claim with their insurance and is trying to get to us.

I was just wondering whether or not a statute of limitation had been reached by now on a claim like that.

Also is it possible for him to claim physical injuries through the insurance company?

I'm not very clued-in on this subject so any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance. =)

The normal statute of limitations is three years. Your state may be different. A party can claim property and personal injuries as a result of an auto accident and present that claim to your insurance carrier.
