Received a call from a purported bill collection agency demanding payment of a suposidly $150.00 past phone bil from year 2001l. Even if it were true, hasen't the SOL expired by now? And how, if at all, should I respond to future written and or telephone demands for payment.

You respond by not responding.

Ignore these clowns.

You are only required to respond to court documents and matters of legal process.

Ignore threats and intimidating tactics.

These debt collectors are scavengers.

They survive and thrive off your fear and ignorance.

You can't respond to what you don't hear and/or read.

The statute of limitations has passed, but that only means they can not get a judgment against you. It does not mean that they can't still attempt to collect the debt.
If you want them to stop hassling you then pay the debt.
If it is not your debt, or you otherwise just don't want to pay, then don't.
Don't communicate with them in any way. If you do they will just keep contacting you. If you are dead to them then they will soon forget about you.
