Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft Still waiting for civil demand, should I make phone calls?

This incident happened on June 10th in DC.

I was caught shoplifting $75 value of clothes at the store. No police were involved. The sale person took me to the back room, and filled out a paper work. She recorded my name, address, birthdate, phone #, and SSN. She handed me a copy of civil demand notice. Their law firm is called Law office of palmer, reifler & associates. She said something like their law firm might sue me. From reading other posts, I wasn't charged or arrested at that time. If I pay the fine, should this be resolved?

I have been waiting for my letter for a month. Should I call the number mentioned on that notice? I don't know what to do.

Any help would be much appreciated.

That might be wise as if they sent anything and you failed to repsond the fine could have tripled by now

So you would recommand me to make a call? I gave them the correct address and phone number. If I have failed to respond to the fines, should they already start to call me though? I am afraid that making a phone call will make things complicated. Thank you!

Its your call. However if they feel your evading them they can sue you, report the failure to pay to credit reporting agnencies, they can even recommend store file charges if they did not at time

I called the law firm this morning. The person told me that they don't have my file yet. It has been a little over a month. What happened?

Lots of things could have happened. doesnt matter at this point. Since they do not have file for whatever reason it seems your off the hook. Jot down the date time and name of person who spoke with for future reference in case there is a claim you ignore payment

I will call them again in few weeks if I don't have my letter by then, just in case. Thank you so much for your help.
