In Sept my father sent request to Stockbroker to remove my moms name from his stock (she died) and put my name on stock as jtt wros. He has a lot of stock some already in both our names. The secretary called me and asked if he really wanted her to change all the stock cause she could just add me as POA Just send her the Poa and my licenses. (I talk to them for my dad all the time) I said fine will just do that add me as poa. Well I didn't send the poa or license into her then. A couple months later my father mentioned it to me to see if I had taken care of adding my name cause it didn't show on stock statement. I said no not yet so, In Nov.
My father had me fax in a signed statement to his stock broker requesting I be added as jtt wros to his stocks immediately. I faxed it into the broker along with copy of my poa and licenses. My father told them to call if any questions. (He has known his broker for a long time). This request was made on 11/13/07. My father passed away on 12/2/07. I got his stock statement the following week and they had added me as POA not as jtt wros. I called the secretary and told her about the fax. She got the fax but she didn't read it evidentilly because she just added me as poa as previous conversation in Sept she said because I had included the POA paper. But the fax sent on 11/13 said add me to stock jtt wros immediately. I just sent the POA paper in case it was needed for anything and she just assumed it was to add me as poa, she couldn't have read the fax if it was a question she should have called him right??? Well now he died 12/2 and they said they can't change it. This was their error shouldn't they be liable??? They had the request since 11/13/07.
Please advice what I can dol.
