My mother passed in 1991. Previously a friend of the family casually informed me that my mother had made a will and that I was the Executor. My mother never informed me of this, however, she was senile and we did not have lucid conversations. My half sister and brother took care of her as i lived in another state. She died in a nursing home.
When she passed my sister said there was no will. But later helped my niece purchase a home with a lot of money [my sister was on welfare]. I have had my own issues over the years, so have had to let this issue go.
I have 3 adult children. And my sister and brother are also deceased.
I want to know if i can go back and find the will [probate?] and follow the money and sue my niece for my stolen inheritance.
Any information will be helpful. Mom lived in Woodside, NY and then Canarsie, NY when she passed.
