I noticed after doing some cleaning in my home that my iPod was missing today. My nephew's was also missing. We think we know who stole them, but can't prove it without a doubt. In both cases all attachments were left at the house including the chargers and headphones. Nothing else in the house was taken, so we're sure it wasn't an actual robber, but someone who we'd "allow" into our house. I called the police non-emergency number to report it, and will call back tomorrow with a serial number. I believe I may be able to provide proof of purchase by going to the store where my wife bought it (even though it was over a year ago). However, if I can't get the receipt, would I still be able to lay claim to this possession? I do have the original box with serial number and an iTunes account dating back near the date of purchase. Secondly, what advice would you give in terms of going after who we suspect it may be? The tough thing about the whole situation is the person we think stole it is my other nephew, so I'd hate to pursue him and be wrong. But he recently came under suspicion of stealing from his grandmother (cigarettes), so there is some previous possible behavior.
