We just won a civil case against a previous landlord who withheld our deposit for her personal expenses. We left a few chairs and a weight bench in the storage building outside, with the apartment left cleared out and clean in perfect condition. The judge in the civil case awarded the landlord $100 hauling fee from the deposit for the items left behind. She finally sent us our deposit but has also sent a bill for $250 for storage fee for the items. (These were only a few items, NOT like an apartment full of stuff.) We moved out in Feb and she's just NOW telling us about this charge. She never contacted us to pick up the items. What should be our next step? What a CHEAP slumlord- she is doing everything she can to keep OUR money! When we lived there she withheld another tenants money who also took her to court. I'm so tired of dealing with her!
