That depends ... why do they want them, and how are they asking to obtain them? If it is a court order, you have no choice. If it is part of a booking process (even out of custody) you have no choice. If they are asking nicely, and they have no court order or other legal method to compel him turning over his prints, then you can politely decline.

If your son is 18 or older and is a legally competent adult, then you have no say in the matter.
