So I was fined at school several times for "Smoking on campus". The rule clearly states that we can possess tobacco products on campus but not smoke them, however we can smoke anywhere off campus. So I was across the street from my dorm smoking on a public sidewalk. So now I refuse to pay the fine because I didn't break any rules. l attempted to make this a civil matter by taking it up with the Dean of Campus Life but he refuses to let this go. Also I'm transferring to a different school and I can't get my transcripts sent until this matter is resolved so they are holding me back.
Added: I was also never told that I was being fined several times, my resident director told me the first time because she came outside and argued with me over whether I could rightfully smoke there. And after she left she sent me an email that I was being fined for that day, but I never knew I was fined 6 times for it until I went to pay for it on the last day and I was told that I had 6 fines.
